![]() What does the new generation have? Tim Henson? Tosin Abasi? Great players don’t get me wrong but their progression of the instrument itself isn’t as exponential as players of yesteryear in my opinion and therefore the impact it has on the youth isn’t as pronounced. Guys I grew up with, like Buckethead, Kirk Hammet, Vai, Satch, Yngwie, Slash, and Dave Mustaine are all at the tail ends of their careers(arguably). Furthermore, the world doesn’t even necessarily have “Guitar Hero’s” anymore that aren’t over 50 years old, not like age matters but anything can happen at 50. ![]() It was a perfect storm that may not, and probably will not, happen again sadly. There was an unprecedented amount of young people trying to be in bands in the early 2000’s because of theĮmo/Core era, and a lot of these kids played video games, which IMO is what demanded a game like guitar hero to even exist in the first place. Rockband faired better, Rockband 4 was more of the same just with updated graphics more of the same thing everyone was sick of, if you have 3 why pay for 4? But now Rockband 4 is the same only next gen game and the only one still active.īoth music AND gaming are in different places. Then the final nail in the coffin was next gen, Xbox ONE and PS4, this is back when they first came out, all Xbox’s had connect, the always online controversy and Activision made Guitar Hero LIVE, basically a Guitar Hero streaming service with a 3x3 6 button guitar, again this didn’t capture anyone attention, I didn’t even know about it till I looked up what guitar is the best to use about a year ago and then the thing happens where inevitably any online game… they shut the servers down so anyone that did buy it got fucked making them loose trust in anything like that again. They completely saturated the market… Activision wouldn’t stop making games… Aerosmith, Metalica, World Tour, 5 and they were all basically the same with the same art style and then Rockband which for 1-2 were pretty cool made 3 with a keyboard and a crazy pro guitar with like 6 frets non of which really captured peoples attention, then Beatles and Green Day…
